A Biomass Shredder (Double Shaft – Teeth Type) is a heavy-duty size-reduction machine designed to shred bulky biomass and agricultural residues into smaller, manageable pieces for further processing. It uses two counter-rotating shafts fitted with toothed cutters that grip, tear and shear the feed material. Its low-speed, high-torque operation makes it suitable for handling tough, fibrous and irregular biomass.

The shredder can be used as a primary processing machine in biomass briquetting plants, pellet production lines, composting facilities and biomass fuel preparation systems. By reducing the bulk of incoming material, it helps simplify conveying, storage and downstream grinding

Working Principle

Biomass enters through the feeding hopper and moves into the shredding chamber. The teeth on the rotating cutters grip the material and pull it between the two shafts. As the shafts rotate in opposite directions, the cutters apply tearing and shearing forces, breaking the material into smaller pieces.

The shredded material discharges from the bottom of the chamber and can be collected or transferred by conveyor to the next processing stage. Depending on the machine configuration, overload protection and automatic reversal can help release jammed material and protect the drive system

• Crop stalks, straw and other agricultural residues.
