The Wood Chipper Machine is used to reduce wood logs, branches, timber offcuts, and suitable wood waste into smaller, manageable chips. It provides an important first stage of raw material preparation in biomass processing, helping make bulky wood easier to handle, transport, store, and process.

In biomass briquetting and pellet production lines, wood chipping prepares the feedstock for subsequent size reduction and drying. Depending on the required final particle size, the chips may need further processing through a hammer mill or grinder before entering the briquetting or pellet machine.

Working Principle

Wood is introduced through the feeding inlet and directed toward a rotating cutting assembly. The cutting blades shear the wood against a stationary counter knife or anvil to produce chips. The chips then discharge through an outlet for collection or transfer to downstream equipment. Feeding arrangements, cutting mechanisms, and discharge systems vary according to the machine design.

Suitable Raw Materials

Untreated wood logs, tree branches, sawmill offcuts, timber trimmings, and other compatible clean wood residues. Material suitability depends on the machine's feed opening, cutting capacity, and feeding arrangement. Feedstock should be free from metal, stones, and other foreign objects.
